Oscars Fashion Police

This past Sunday as many watched the Oscars to see who would bring home Best Actress-Sandra Bullock, Best Director-Kathryn Bigelow out beating her ex husband James Cameron, as well as Best Picture-The Hurt Locker beating Avatar. I instead tune in to watch the Red Carpet on The E Network rather then being bored by the winner’s speeches.

Shimmering fabrics, sequences, frills, crystals and gold were the trends this year, there were evening and cocktail dresses and bridal gowns dyed, would translate into mainstream style. Accessories were very minimal with dramatic bare necklines. Many actresses were seen with the red lips, smoky eyes, but this season trend was Metallic makeup.

Not only did Sandra Bullock win an Oscar, her blue-red lip shade (Chanel’s Coco Rouge in Paris) helped her stand out like a classic, Hollywood movie star. It’s if she was dressed knowing she was going to bring home an Oscar. Another favorite was Jennifer Lopez who wore a Giorgio Armani Prive iridescent icy pale pink silk organza evening gown. Elizabeth Banks wore a strapless Versace gown pair with a clutch and minimal jewelry.

Mariska Hargitay in a navy strapless silk faille gown by Vera Wang, accessorized with diamond cluster necklace looked breathe taking. Hargitay went towards a darker hue as well as Maggie Gyllenhaal draped in Dries Van Noten, Nicole Richie wearing a Reem Acra gown, and Penelope Cruz wearing a Donna Karan, pleated draped gown. Who would have expected a Twilight star at the Oscars, Kristen Stewart in a blue silk Monique Lhuillier and no accessories and minimal makeup looked exquisite for her age, who new a vampire could clean up so well.

Showing too much skin and expecting nothing less of Mariah Carey wearing Valentino Haute Courte’s, gave us too much leg and not enough material. Although all Carey ever wears are dresses that are too revealing and too tight, exposing too much boobage, a woman like her needs to cover up, keep the excessive exposure for the bedroom. Another actress showing too much leg was Faith Hill, Hill this wasn’t the Music Awards, what were you thinking?

The worst dressed can be given too Charlize Theron, looked as if she had two rose buds covering the breasts or as others criticized cinnamon buns, not far behind was Zoe Saldana’s ruffled Givenchy Haute Courte. Saldana’s purple ruffled Givenchy was a favorite of mine, the ruffles and different hues of cascading purple stood out from the pastel color’s worn by many actresses. There’s always that one actress who goes all out and I’d have to say she was risk taker.
