MADNESS is here!

March Madness is finally here! The last time I checked my countdown there was T minus 20 minutes and 39 seconds until the first round game of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament officially started. Even though I was still mourning the end of football season the past few weeks, today I was finally able to see beyond football ’09 (besides the brackets means football ’10 is rounding the corner). I can always count on the tournaments to lift my spirits and get me back in the couch coaching position once again.

My bracket is all filled out and ready to be highlighted for all the numerous winning picks I have on it. I finished it this morning in typical last minute fashion; it is how I do everything else, why would the bracket be any different. Unlike my school work however, I put a lot of thought and planning behind my picks. Don’t worry I don’t have a “secretary” bracket, as I recently heard it be called, meaning my picks aren’t based on team colors or favorite names or by ranking, all number ones over twos ect., but my bracket is based on gut, the teams’ season thus far, and of course a few good upsets.

I am buckeye at heart, by birth, and by alma mater, and during football season there is no other college team I will even think about rooting for. When it comes to basketball season though I always root for my favorite team, the Kentucky Wildcats! I don’t have Ohio State playing against UK at all in my bracket, so I don’t mind cheering for both. Ok, time to get serious and watch these games. I don’t want to give away of my picks yet, but I will say C-A-T-S, Cats, Cats, Cats! More to come after this weekend’s round of games!
