New Ohio Union Opening Day Celebration
Yes Ohio State University is one of the largest schools in the nation, so it’s no big surprise they went “BIG” when developing the new Ohio Student Union.
It took three years to complete the over 300,000 sq. ft. building which includes everything from a ballroom, dining options, study lounges, meeting rooms and home to many student organizations and offices. This mammoth structure has it all, and Ohio State spared nothing on the theme decor. Ohio State wants you to walk in the door and you instantly know you are in Buckeye country. Everything from block Os in the carpet and chandeliers, a bronze Brutus Buckeye mascot statue, and even script Ohio can be found in the bathrooms. It’s the absolute WOW factor for The Ohio State University.
Have you been over to visit the new union yet? If so what are your thoughts. I have not had the opportunity to see it for myself, but from what I have heard and read it is visually stunning and breathtaking. I can’t wait to see it for myself this week. Actually I’m glad I waited so I can take the time to embrace all the new union has to offer instead of fighting off the crow of 16,000 from yesterday! I found this short video clip of the grand opening celebration … very moving!
