The Dorm Room Diet…Realistic or A Joke?
We all know dorm life can be overwhelming from being away from home for the first time, to meeting new friends, new surroundings, late night eating and even drinking! Between the horrible food offered in the dorms, cheap deals on late night eating and several beers later and you’ve got freshman 15. Sound familiar? Well there is a new book out to help you better stay on track called Excerpt: ‘The Dorm Room Diet,’ by Daphne Oz where she helps you lay out a Ten-Step Program for Staying on a Healthy Diet. Watch this video and read the article featured on Good Morning America and tell us if you think this is realistic or a joke?
I am all for a healthy lifestyle, but know most college students can’t afford to spend extra money on food when they already have a meal plan through the dorms. I feel it must start with the foods that are being offered in the dorms to help our students with the extra weight gain. If you came from a home environment where you had healthy home cooked meals by Mom to now fat laden macaroni and cheese everyday what do you think will happen? Tell us if you think this is a realistic approach to avoid gaining those freshman 15.
